Although this takes a nutritious and healthy ingredient, and makes it decidedly less so – this is a really tasty side dish. Also, by frying rather than boiling the cabbage it will stay firmer and more crunchy.
- 1 dessert spoon of oil
- 1/4 of a cabbage, thinly sliced
- 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
- 1-2 rashers of bacon (back or streaky), thinly sliced
- Sauté the bacon then add the other ingredients as the bacon starts to crispen.
- Continue until the cabbage is cooked but still firm.
